Narnia: Prince Caspian Is A Cylon!

When you're adapting your artwork to go on the side of a bus, it probably pays to take a look at the mechanical supplied.

Full story is here. Thanks to Doctor Popular!

is it not possible they did this on purpose? advertisers are known for their creativity with the machinery on a bus. further, how much of a mistake do you think it was to have the lights EXACTLY on top of the eyes?

Anonymous said...

A big mistake. If that's deliberate, then heaven help the client when their agency decides to get really "creative."

"Hey, that's not Scott Summers!"

Maybe they're planning on cross-marketing it to Battlestar Galactica fans ...

At least they spared the lion...

i love photoshop
and this blog is really good!

Regarding the possibility of this being an intentional error. I doubt it. The banner on the other side didn't cover this guys face up like the "passenger" side advert did.

It could be on purpose... but then again that Springteen/Microsoft internal video could be "ironically hip", but I still have my doubts.

Here is another one of the smart bus ads:

I've had some experience with these, and I'd bet you the bus template was wrong.

I cant wait for to see the next Narnia movie set in the future.
"NOW WITH FLASHING LAYZOR EYES!"

I love photoshop myself, but more for fucking around making silly pictures.

Time to be observant guys!

This is hardly a Photoshop disaster, is it? An unfortunate lack of communication, perhaps.

lhbgoi apply these kind of graphics for a living and to be honest on most buses in the uk the build quality is so low that even with a dims sheet the indicator is pretty much placed wherever the person building the bus wants it to go.

i would say that this was a mess up on the part of the designer , then it was applied in the only place it could go. the client picked it up and though hey thats a pretty cool mess up lets see it we can get a bit of viral advertising out of this for a really rubbish movie

Is this the last one from the The Final Five‽

Goddamn you for the spilers‼ ;-(

Haha what a fun blog you have!

Dayum!

I'm going to have to check some of the bus wrap die lines we've used at work. I swear we've just been given a rectangular measurement, but I could be wrong.

Love the site, btw.

I echo the Scott Summers thought. But if he's really got destructive vision, the movie's going to be FUCKING AWESOME.

I would agree with another commenter, the template may have been wrong.

On the other hand, I have designed large scale ads like this before, and you will never believe the stupid stuff that a client will ignore you about, and go along with whatever idea they have anyway. Even after countless pleas against it.

I bet the designer's soul died a little the day he sent this to print.

hilarious! coolest blog i've seen yet!

Its not really a disaster is it - it is just an error with the template.

her arm looks so thin and strange...

sxitus - the horrible part is that her arm IS that thin and gross. She's really started to get thinner.

That would be a good one for an X-Men ads. ;-)

It's funny, but how is it a Photoshop disaster?

Dr. Johnny5 said...

So the truth is out, Caspian is the 5th member of the final 5. Its all coming together now.

Isn't it possible the city operates busses made in different years, and of slightly different models? I think we're being too hard on the template designer.

Anonymous said...

it's just plain dumb luck...
it all dependents on the bus,
the guy sticking it to the bus,
and the art.
When we plan for it to line up, it never happens.

I know we're visual people, but... no one? Really? What the heck is a Cylon? A nylon Cyclops?

R. Almares said...

That's some cyclops action there, lol.

PhoneFeminist said...

Anonymous- A Cylon is a race of alien type things on Battlestar Galactica. Google. It is your friend.

Jawsh said...

LOL, wow.
Wait.. you mean they don't make
all the sides of buses flat?
WTF!

JTalpesh said...

That is definitely something that should have been thought about...

Hahaha what a coincidence! Just as I scrolled down to this pic, a commercial for the movie just came on!!

Legs said...

It's the futuristic version see? he has a laser beam gadget and shoots people on the sidewalk as he goes past.

patrick said...

the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story in some ways and strayed in others... i heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not the case

Anonymous said...

funny but doesnt really have anything to do with photoshop

Phoenix said...

... what? That's the Cylon version of the movie ...

del4yo said...

I actually saw it for real and enjoyed it tremendously, especially when the light were blinking.

I love how relevant "unfortunate adaptation" is to both the advert and the film.
