Iranian Govt: Persian Pixels Pwned

Not only do Iran's missile pictures reveal a shocking gap in that nation's ability to use the clone tool, our patented Extra-Contrast-O-Vision shows how clumsy they are at comping. Presumably the third missile didn't go off and rather than trying to relight the touchpaper they resorted to Photoshop.

Getty has the original here. Reddit has an interesting discussion on this here. I haven't checked my mail yet, but thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Iran - Iran test-fired some long-range missiles overnight in a second round of exercises meant to show that the country use Photoshop better than the U.S. or Israel, state television reported Thursday.

The picture, however, shows the lack of judgement and a sense of general laziness of the graphic designers of the Iranian Government.

No officials were able to comment.

And if you look closely you can see that the contrail of the third missile was also cloned from the top part of the contrail of the second missile.

At Imaging Insider they're reporting that the press agency retracted its original statement (http://www.imaginginsider.com/?p=77418)

Because 4 missiles are better than 3 when it comes to showing the world the kind of destruction they are capable of. Lame indeed.

Right, be very afarid..

Plz, where do we find the original "disaster" pic?

My guess is that this photoshopping was made by you-know-who to public just to show how threatening iran is to homeland security.

Their fake rockets will be no match for our fake missle defense shield.

@ewan: Ooooh, scaaaary. Yeah, it's obviously photoshopped, and badly done at that. I can't believe that a government actually published this ****.

"Their fake rockets will be no match for our fake missile defense shield."

LOL!

The U.S. will retaliate by layering a homing device onto the missiles, so we can stamp-tool them out of the sky.

Unfortunately, our government photo analysts aren't as perceptive as others. Remember the 'mobile weapons labs?'

One should assume that at least in a serious business like pollitics, someone would watch for stuff like that. And that goes with both the Iranian photoshoppers AND even more with the journalists.

Yeah, I can see someone from our gov't using this photo in front of congress as a reason to go to war with Iran...thanks for posting this up.

I did an analysis of the images in question, and there is both more, and less, to this story than it appears:

PhotoShop should be put in the ITAR list of banned tech not to be exported to rogue countries like Iran
