Lexar: 8GB

8GB. 8GB. 8GB.
8GB 8GB 8GB. Eight gigabytes. 8GB. 8GB 8GB 8GB. 8GB. Eight.

4GB.

Thanks to Jerry P!

Clearly, this is the 8GB card wishing it was a 4GB card, just like that bulldozer wished it were bigger.

Hey, if it works for the one...

Oh LOL. That is wonderful.

Fail.

The reflection is from another 4GB card positioned just behind the 8GB card, but the reflections have been turned off for the 8GB card.

This blog used to be good, now it sucks.

I can't believe you have watermarked the image. How dare you!

That is some pretty awkward sarcasm and I love it

This is not a disaster - I have a 2GB SD card and when I look at it in the mirror it says 5GB.

wow. I guess you get what you paid for?

[it's free, according to the ad, so...it says 8 but really holds 4 gigs?]

I'm with Matthew. I laughed audibly before I'd read the caption. Priceless.

Maybe Lexar includes some kind of compression software that doubles the space =D

Elyanda said...

I'm sorry to contradict you, but this picture isn't a Photoshop Disaster.
No, this is clearly a card that has a serious inferiority complex.

You could at least show a minimum of decency, she really suffers, the poor girl !!

Loner Gamer said...

Since it only shows half of the card's image on the reflection, the storage capacity was mathematically calculated to precision.

spacebear said...

I have read the caption, looked for almost half a minute in order to find it, but then I literally laughed out loud. Thanks for that.

Alexandra said...

Caption = Win.

--David said...

The new 8gb cards use the tension/expansion method of storage, allowing the user to enjoy half the storage as the indicated amount.

What's bil's problem, does he work for Lexar or something... :-)

Thanks for posting my pic. It's also on my blog

4 of those 8GB have a blood-thirst problem.

no wonder why it's free

JM said...

Hey, as long as it's free, I would mind it having 2GB...

In college, I used to smoke Camel cigarettes. The original ones, no filters. Hold up the side to a mirror. One word reads the same, the other does not.

I've seen that strategy used in advertisements before, where the reflection is different than the item -- but usually the symbolism is the reflection is something better (like when Taster's Choice had a decaf jar's original with a regular jar's reflection, implying the taste of the decaf was just as good as the caffienated version).

From that standpoint, "saying" that the 8gb is just as awesome as the 4gb... Whoops.

Looks like this 8GB was on SALE for half the price.

It's just a regular memory card problem. Even Photoshop guru Scott Kelby had a bad behaving memory card when shooting pictures for his Digital Photography Book 2. I wrote about in on my blog.

(my blog is in Dutch, but thanks to Google there is a very bad and lousy English translation available)

The reflection is there to deceive the enemy.

Me, too... LOL

Well naturally the shadow of a card can't store as much data as the real thing, that's just a physical law.

Dalrick said...

Wow. Not a single serious "this isn't a disaster" response. I thought for sure someone would have argued it wasn't really a photoshop disaster, but a layout disaster, or a proofreading disaster or some such stupidity.

Nice post.

And I think bil had my favorite response. Kudos.

Little 4GB can hide its original persona, but in reflections it comes out.

LOL!

I hope this is not of those than says a capacity when really is a lower one

There is a reason for this...the card *is* actually 4gb after formatting...plausible denability you see...

Obesity is no joke, it's a problem affecting millions of SD cards worldwide.

I can't believe it... Sometimes i wanted to know who makes that kind of photoshoping. My dog in front of a computer will do it better. Put in front of a mirror a 999GBs memory card...!
GREAT BLOG! Great job! I visit this blog everyday.

This reminds me of the Star Wars poster with Anikan shown above and Darth Vader in the reflection. Only that was done intentionally.
