Rittal: And If He's Angry And Sad He's A Bi-polar Bear

You see the polar bear represents cooling, and it is three-legged to represent the, uh, quality of the cooling. Thing. Quality.

Thanks to Tim!

First comment?

Maybe he's just disfigured

No, no, no, this isn't a disaster. The unit to the bear's right is a safe. The dial is on the panel around the other side, where we can't see. This is one of those safe-cracking polar bears. He's listening at the door while his right paw is turning the dial.

The bear is clearly reaching into the cooling machine to test if it's cool enough. His facial expression says "I approve of this coolness".

you need to buy this cooler! come on, im'a a three leg polar bear, who would ever resist me?

The Sophisticate's Diary said...

Some extraordinary shadows there. Especially the bear's head against the vented thingie.

twopiearr said...

At least the shadow also only has 3 legs...

warren said...

twopiearr -- that's the most remarkable thing about it. In order to map the shadow, they had to be aware of the missing leg.

Weird, isn't it?

gzuckier said...

it's true; polar bears are disappearing. this one's already partially disappeared.

Hans Derycke said...

No, no, no. The caption says "beloved by experts," so the bear is obviously *hugging* the cooler. His "missing leg" isn't missing at all, it's behind the cooler.

unMuse said...

it's a puny leg. You can see it to the right of the front leg, but that's it. he's like Jerry's Kids asking you to buy a cooler.

Ed said...

We could make alot of money out of this

"Send us your photoshopped image and we check it for you , for only 299!"

I thought the bear was bending time space like the tv show Sliders. He's trying to go back to cooler times.

FreakyTee said...

Global warming will do that you ya.

AV said...

What has happened to the colour of the bear? Is it bleached?

If yes, then let's hope that it was at least chlorine-free.

I think that's true.

I mean, assuming they really lost the leg somewhere in the process and didn't notice would be kinda silly, wouldn't it.

Then again, they did flip the lady with the mole...

Motumbo said...

Man, this is the real deal: a stupid idea (a bear hugging the A/C unit) topped by horrible, horrible production. Not one disaster, but two.

kapster said...

I think unmuse is right. The right leg is just behind the left leg, and that's why the left leg looks abnormally thick. Since both legs are pretty much the same color, it's simply hard to tell.

A bad image to use, but probably not due to faulty photoshopping.

The Mushroom said...

Sophisticate kinda beat me to the shadow punch. The light source is behind the bear, as we see with the tripod legs, but the head's shadow goes forward. Ha, ha!

Maybe the shadow is to make up for his missing leg. LOL

But ... but ... there are tons of three-legged polar bears in Yellowknife, where I'm from! Look at this garbage can!

raw by default said...

Three legs... Is that why he's leaning against the air-conditioning unit?

TheOther said...

He's pushing it! His gimpy arm is tucked up underneath, and he is using his shoulder to push the cabinet in front of the round time circles, thus saving us all frm global warming. You can see the radiation making him glow. Live long and prosper.

How about a tri-polar bear? Très cool!

homer1523 said...

the cooling unit IS his other arm. that's how serious they are about cooling. it's got bits of real polar bear in it, so you know it's good.

Daemonmonkey said...

Somewhere, in another time continuum, another bear is walking around with five legs...

ST said...

The poor thing also its rear leg on the right seems to be missing a piece, like it was bitten out...

zielonobrody said...

Whoo needs four legs when you've got a cooling system?

It's a belgian website, EXPERTEN is'nt even proper dutch, we say EXPERTS just like the english.

@unMuse & kapster:
Yes, if you want to find the missing leg behind the front leg you find it. But look globally and you'll see that if the bear has the right leg behind the left leg (as you say) the bear should be in a very unanatomical and unbalanced position.
The muscles and the whole pose suggest that the missing leg should be where the cooler is.

And even if you are right: Inside the yellow rings in the background are cars (or part of them). I don't know how big a polar bear can get but judging from perspective my guess is that this particular bear is, at least, bigger than one car.

So we have a unnatural standing giant polar bear who casts unnatural shadows. A PsD? Of course not! Is just a realistic photo from a non euclidean universe!

if you don't buy this they'll remove another limb! please buy this unit!!! for the love of God, pleeease!

I'm quailfying this as a disaster just for the lighting issues alone. Apparently the lighting on the bear's right side comes from within? The light source on the cooling unit should have the bear lit from its left rear, which is also implied by the shadows. Somehow it's head managed to stay lit and still cast a shadow to its right onto the machine.

Perhaps this isn't a polar bear so much as a nexus bear?

Sean Flanagan said...

I also enjoy how they very nearly got the perspective correct on the air conditioner itself. Just missed it. (Upper left edge)

jonsteed said...

If the bear's right leg really is min a position behind the unit, why haven't they shown any of it to make it obvious?
It would make a great shot.

Randall said...

The bear is clearly hugging the A/C unit. He is thanking it for providing cool air for the humans so they don't have to steal his arctic ice anymore, thus saving his and his families lives.

SUEB0B said...

He's like a mobius bear...his left front leg and right back leg exist in the same plane. Cool.

Emily said...

maybe the polar bear is reaching INSIDE the machine!

robnorth made me LOL.

mcdonatl said...

So, if a Polar Bear sh*ts in the woods does anyone hear its leg fall off?

Uden Relevans said...

May I repeat myself.

OMG I CANT FEEL MY LEG!!!

Molly said...

Clearly the bear is trying to hug the cooling unit. LMAO!

Pigumon said...

People, look at the left front leg. See the bump a few inches up with a shadow coming off it? That's the paw of the front right leg. There is no missing leg!! It simply can't be seen well at this angle because it's covered by the left leg.

Pretty soon you're going to question pictures you took with your own cameras.

Although the reason it was posted is not a disaster, the lighting certainly is. This wasn't a good pic to use since it's causing so much confusion...

Michel Jansen said...

They should also hire better Dutch/Flemish translators, since the plural of "expert" is "experts", not "experten".

Actually makes this one more disastrous though :P

Ridiculouslyonthescene said...

The Bear was taken from another photo where he is walking. Look at the angle of his body and his back two legs. His right front paw is up and bent, getting ready to take another step, that's what the black thing is right by his left front elbow.

The only disaster here is they stole an image of a bear walking and not standing.
