Audi: Will This Do?

So yeah like we were like doing the Flash for Audi and the old bag who's ADing this said get like a picture of some cool architecty house next to a winding country road and even though I spent over ten minutes looking for some stock I simply couldn't find like nothing man, nothing, so I thought hey I can just comp some cool geezer's house right in to any old pic, right? So I spent literally fifteen minutes comping it in and you know no one's going to notice cos I don't think you can really tell. That's the beauty of Photoshop man. Can I have a bite of your sandwich?

Props to KimZ! Original is here (then Technik then Sicherheit then complain about Flash.)

Its too cool to reflect?

Lol... all of their pics suck. But this is definitely the worst. It's a one room pod on stilts... ugh, a reflection of a forest in the glass. Lol. Look at the 2 pics previous to this one on their website... the cars were obviously just pasted in and drop shadowed. The drop shadows are the exact same shape as each other too... and the cars are facing opposite directions.

I should ask them for a job, my skills can't be worse.

I'm pretty sure I could do better and I've never actually used Photoshop.

Did you notice the shadow of "Motoren" and "Fahrwerk" is identical although the car is turned 180° ...

Where do you park your car if you live at that house?

Saurio said...

My girlfriend's house can do that.

That's supposed to be a house? The picture doesn't really look like anything, just a bunch of unrelated images thrown together like a collage.

David said...

Does the main room of that home look to anyone else kinda like ... a ... schoolroom?

God in heaven, I've just looked at the original and am dumbfounded that Audi want to sell us the future, which consists of smooth-cornered white house-pods hidden in bushes a metre from the main road, when that house-pod is accessible only by a useless fucking wooden ladder perched in the mud underneath.

I will never purchase an Audi in all my days left on earth.

i think the worst one is the third one in. there's motion blur on the roads, dividers and shrubs. the cars are going in OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS to each other but are prefectly sharp. At least this picture hints at plausibility, but the one I saw is outrageous.

I think thats sopposed to be something like the Villa savoye house from the architect, Le Corbusier.

Number six is pretty impressive too. It's not every car that can cast a shadow towards the sun like that.

Can I skip right to complaining about Flash?

Waldobaby said...

@Mykel
Maybe the cars CAME with the shadows; they couldn't possibly have been made that consistently wrong. Look in the galerie at tyhe two shots at the "bistro" with the red-brown slanted roof, and look at the furniture shadows. One car shadow has a hard straight cutoff as well.

It's not Photoshop, the picture was just taken by a really bad camera.

Everything is wrong. Shadows? Reflections? Colors? Depth?

That website is incredibly bad. As if the images aren't bad enough on their own, most of them have nothing to do with the slogans printed over them. They don't complement the slogans in any way, they don't somehow symbolize what the slogans are saying; they've just been arbitrarily selected with no more attention or skill than that which went into the photoshopping.

And what is it about automotive websites and Flash?? Almost as bad as fashion label sites.

Btw, if anyone cares, the house in the image is the so called 'Loft Cube' - loftcube.net

fanbot said...

This is where the "artist" learned PhotoShop. At his home.
Get it? Home schooled?
I'll be leaving now.

Domitype said...

In a World with Three Suns...

(maybe a new descriptive for bad shopped shadows?)

Anyway, the house image they grabbed is called "Loft Cube" - a German proposal to place small dwellings on the roof of urban buildings.
Google Loftcube for many similar images.

Hi, Firstly congratulations to this great blog, the truth is learned that error, and seeing the mistakes of others can prevent us with photoshop.
Another thing I wanted to ask, how do I upload pictures to the colgueis in Bloog? I have a rather curious, I do not write good English but I am from Spain and do not speak English.
Greetings!!

That must be one of those neato utility buildings they're building alongside European roads these days. You know, the ones that SUCK water from local pumping stations. Or maybe it's one that "SUCKS" electricity from power stations and "BLOWS" it down the powerlines to the houses in new developments. It could be a relay station for broadband. I wonder if the broadband that that utility building deals with SSSSSUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKSSSSS.

I see nothing wrong with SUCKING and BLOWING at things. No. Nothing wrong at all... ;)

What's the problem?...They beamed down a house and then they beamed down a car...? Seems perfectly normal to me.

actually, if you look at the gallery in the AUDI site, they're all rubbish... you'd think Audi could afford to actually have their cars on location to shoot, rather than just cut and pasting them in....

I have an overwhelming desire to drive that house down the road.

N. said...

They could have at least tried :(

For everyone who claims they can do better than this that hasn't used photoshop. You're wrong ... but you probably wouldn't be far off :p

At those who cant get a job in the creative industry: If your only selling point is that you can do better than this pile of w**k then that's why you don't have a job in the creative industry :p

ThePenciler said...

I dunno. I did the best I could with what I had (screenshot of the site). Goal being to make it a little more natural looking. Personally I would have chosen a different setting. If only I had the original landscape picture so I could rejigger the "house".

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6123/fixedewj.jpg

Using Photoshop 7 here. Various burn, blur, masking and brush techniques.

ThePenciler said...

Jeeze, looking more and more at this monstrosity I realize the fence is comped in too and it has a light source coming in from the extreme left. The road looks like it's sliced in the middle so the asphalt and the car are the same. Then the rest of the road goes with the landscape. And of course the house. So, in all that's 4 different sources comped together. This picture is beyond fixable. :P

Andrew A. Gill said...

Yeah, they're all pretty bad. Look at this one:

Shadow unfinished? Pish posh. Fix it after lunch.

Kasey said...

@andrew

Not only is the shadow cut off, it is going the wrong direction. All the house shadows are going off to the right.

That horizontal line between the car and the "house" is making me wonder if they actually parked the car in front of a backdrop of the house... bizarre. And really awful.

Is this an illustration from one of the Cthulhu stories?

It is that which must not be seen by mortal eyes lest one go mad for the logic cannot be perceived rightly.

:)

Aaoh, gawd! Panic attack! Incomprehensible fear! Must stop thinking about it! Can't!! ARGH! *dead*

Christopher said...

@toby

I think you're right. If you look at the original the line goes all the way across the frame and inexplicably divides the road on which the car sits from the "road" going back past the house.

Peter said...

Hey, they even provide their photoshop-desaster as a wallpaper.
