Night At The Museum 2: Monkey Stomping

The Egyptian dude is like totally stomping on the monkey dude's foot. Awesome.

Thanks to Linda! Bigger version here!

Is that really a disaster?

Kasey said...

At first I thought it might be deliberate, but I think it was a comping error. The monkey would be reacting if it were deliberate.
Also, look at Amelia Earhart and Teddy Roosevelt's feet. Very tangled up.

Comping to the nth degree!

Can I point out Owen Wilson and the horse with its own perspective too?

If you look at the foot being stepped on, it is a LOT bigger than the other monkey foot....

I'm far more worried about the miniature cowboy and Roman centurion floating about than that monkey's foot.

Tim said...

I think that's supposed to be a joke.

Pseudowhis said...

To be honest the biggest disaster in this poster is the placement of Ben Stiller & his female co-star's head.

Thaís said...

The cowboy and the centurion are supposed to be small, since they are miniatures. They also appear in the first movie.

I've seen worse disasters though.

Apparently the monkey slaps, bites and urinates on a variety of characters in the movie. I'm inclined to think it is deliberate.

It sure is dark at the bottom of this barrel..

Looking closely - I think I'm right in saying - it appears that the monkey's foot passes through the sole of the Pharaoh's sandle. Yes, we've all seen worse but definitely a (minor) comping failure. In fact from the position of the Pharoah his right foot should be passing into the space occupied by Ben Stiller's left.

Of course I could be wrong, because my homeschooled girlfriend can etc etc...

The monkey's toes appear to have no reflection, and Napoleon either has part of his leg and foot missing or he has one leg longer then the other.

englishwolf said...

Okay, ignore the napoleon leg comment, i've been at a computer too long today and my eyes are starting to go a little funny. Next thing you know i'll think that Night at the Museum 2 is actually worth watching!

Here is an extremely hi-def version to check out.

That is one god-awful poster, PSD or no PSD.

Hey!! good job I didn't notice that and I have seen that poster a lot of times

No disaster here. The movie, though.... well....

Jajajajja, nunca me había dado cuenta !!

I first thought you referred to Ben Stiller with "Monkey", until I scrolled down.

τıαgо_lμż said...

in the movie Al Capone is always in black & white, and here he is displayed in full color!

Prags said...

the biggest disaster seems to be Ben Stiller's face.. it seems to be a bit bigger than his body and at a very peculiar angle

The Mushroom said...

You're sure that's not intentional? The look on the monkey's face says he isn't unaware of that foot on his.

Fuzzy Duck said...

The biggest PSD is that Ben Stiller looks so much taller than his actual height of 5'1".

Tephlon said...

What's up with the Octopus though?

The ones I've seen have their suckers on the underside of their tentacles...

lisabrodsky1965 said...

Not a disaster: stepping on the monkey's foot is the only way to keep the mischievous little bastid from jumping up and down!

Photoxris said...

considering the sheer amount of photoshop in this image and how much COULD have gone wrong.... i'm not calling this one a disaster. A minor quality check hiccup

There's no Disaster with the monkey foot... just lighten the area a bit and you'll see that the monkey's foot is in front of the pharaoh's.

Ben Stiller's head on the other hand... definitely a disaster.

pg11 said...

how about the fact that the T-Rex is poking from behind the arch in the top right, and its tail is trailing into frame on the bottom right....

Andrew A. Gill said...

First thing I noticed is that Teddy Roosevelt's hat seems to be being converted into light.

Now, I realize that the hat is supposed to have that side of the brim folded up, and it may be that the angle of the light just happens to exactly match the angle of the hat, but good comping should avoid placements like that unless you can make it clear that it's deliberate.

Nerte said...

Does anybody know how to make the "art-ish" look to people as they have here? I mean, they look more like painted, not photos... if you know what I mean.

Kasey said...

It's wonderful that the rays of light are able to pass right through certain people.

T-rex is just very flexible. His girlfriend can do that.

l said...

The foot thing is funny. But some light beams come from totally random places. Look at the left monkey: he can emit light from his face! It's Beepo the Super-monkey, he's trying to burn Owen Wilson with his heat vision!

Miss Misfire said...

@I: No, I think that particular ray is coming from Robin Williams's crotch.

Seriously, though, there's a freaking statue behind them; unless the statue is glowing, there's no possible source for that light.

Also, that rocket on the left is absolutely horrendous. D;

Ryab said...

Is it just my own disapproval of this poster to make it look as bad as it could possibly be, or does Lincoln's body look stretched to fit inbetween the logo and the arch? His arm doesn't look like it bends all the way down there.

Kimberly said...

I think the one commenter was dead on with the octopus - the suckers are on the wrong side, which makes less sense since it's 'gripping' with the non-suckered parts of it's arms.

Did anyone notice how the light seems to pass through Amelia's body? There's this frickin' glow that shouldn't be. And the light source is Ben Stiller's ass. The eyes, they burn! And what's up with Ben's HEAD? It's just *weird*. And the left side of his jacket is totally missing the zipper... And the glow to the right of Napoleon? How can that be?

OKAY - WORST COMPING JOB EVER here. TOTAL Disaster.

Not to be a buzz-kill, but Debelco (and maybe someone else I missed) is right. The monkey foot is not quite a disaster, but definitely a poor placement choice since it "tricked" so many people into seeing a disaster there. Terrible poster either way.

checkout ben's crotch area. There are a few stretch mark/ tunnel type things emanating out - but cutting off at the iron in pleat. Sort of a Swiss army penis effect... fascinating.

Look at the Pharroh's right leg... his toes are covered on the other foot.
